How to delete your Google account

This deletes the whole Google account — Gmail, Drive, Photos and everything attached. If you only want to stop paying for something, see the note below instead.

Step by step

  1. Sign in and go to myaccount.google.com.
  2. Open Data & privacy.
  3. Scroll to Delete your Google Account and choose Delete account.
  4. Tick the confirmation boxes and enter your password.

Watch out for

  • Only cancelling a paid subscription? Go to Play > Payments & subscriptions instead — that leaves the account intact.
  • Deleting the account deletes Gmail, Drive, Photos and any purchases tied to it.
  • You can download your data first at takeout.google.com.
