How to delete your Instagram account
There’s nothing to unsubscribe from — Instagram is free, so quitting means deleting or deactivating the account. Both now live in Meta’s Accounts Center.

Step by step
- Sign in at accountscenter.instagram.com.
- Open Personal details, then Account ownership and control.
- Choose Deactivation or deletion.
- Pick the account, choose Delete account and confirm.
Watch out for
- Deactivating hides the account and is reversible; deleting is permanent after about 30 days.
- Deleting Instagram also deletes your Threads profile, since they share an account.
- Download your photos and Reels first.
